LASCASSAS, Tenn. (WGNS) — In a heartfelt show of support, the local community is coming together for a Cancer Benefit Kickball Tournament on Saturday, August 23, 2025, to raise funds for the spouse of Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services employee recently diagnosed with cancer. The couple has two young children, and this event aims to support them through a challenging time.
The tournament will take place at Lascassas Ball Park (6531 Lascassas Pike, Lascassas, TN 37085), with kick-off scheduled for 9:00 AM.
The event promises a day full of fun, food, and community spirit — all for a meaningful cause. Purdom’s BBQ has generously offered to cater the event and will be donating 100% of their profits to the family to help with medical and personal expenses.
Participants can sign up for one of the 15 available team slots (with more to be added if needed). Teams are encouraged to pick a number from 1–15 and register under that number. Additionally, volunteer slots are available for those who’d like to assist with running the event.
"This event is not just for employees — we’d love to see a variety of teams from across the community come out to support this cause," said Brent Carter with RCEMS.
