Christiana, TN - A deadly shooting is under investigation after a reported break-in attempt at a home on Golden Valley Drive Saturday (8/16/2025) afternoon, according to Rutherford County Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh.

Authorities say a guest staying at the residence retrieved a handgun when someone allegedly tried to force their way into the home, where he was with family. Lt. Steve Craig of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that “several rounds were fired,” resulting in one person’s death.

Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including what led to the shooting and the identity of the deceased. No further details have been released as the case remains ongoing.
