Murfreesboro, TN - Murfreesboro Indivisible is calling on neighbors, families, and fellow Tennesseans to join them Saturday, September 6, 2025, for a rally aimed at defending democracy and promoting justice. The event runs from 10:00AM to noon on the sidewalk between Chili’s and Longhorn Steakhouse at The Avenue, 2741 Medical Center Parkway.

Susan Myers-Shirk, president of the grassroots group, says the rally is about more than politics.

“This is a chance for the entire community to rise up and stand strong for justice, fairness, and a future that works for everyone,” she said. Attendees are encouraged to bring signs, dress for the weather, and stay hydrated. The event is family-friendly, and organizers stress that no weapons are allowed.

Murfreesboro Indivisible has been active throughout 2025, hosting five events so far, including a June rally that drew over 2,000 participants. The group is part of a statewide and national movement that began in 2016 with the Indivisible Guide—a grassroots blueprint for resisting extremism and promoting progressive values.

With nearly two dozen Indivisible chapters across Tennessee, the Murfreesboro group continues to advocate for First Amendment rights, the rule of law, and a more inclusive future.
