MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A 19-year-old Murfreesboro man was arrested last week after allegedly making a violent threat against Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA), a school that sits just outside the Brentwood city limits in Nashville, TN.

Authorities say Max Overholt, who had been working part-time as a contract dining services employee at CPA, made the alarming statement during a domestic-related dispute with his father at their Rutherford County home.

According to a Murfreesboro Police report, Overholt allegedly told his father, “I’ll shoot up the whole [expletive] school if I want to.” His father told investigators he could only assume the comment was directed at CPA, since his son has no ties to any other school.

Overholt was arrested and charged with false reporting and making a threat of mass violence. He was booked into a Nashville jail on a $20,000 bond but released several hours later after posting bail.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) emphasized that threats against schools are taken very seriously and that individuals identified in such cases will face prosecution.

In addition to the Nashville charges, Overholt is also scheduled to appear in a Rutherford County courtroom on September 24, 2025, where he faces a separate domestic assault charge stemming from the same incident.
