DeKalb County, TN – Center Hill Lake usually makes headlines for fishing, boating, and summer fun, while Smithville makes the news for their annual Fiddlers Jamboree And Crafts Festival. Neither of the two are known for what unfolded at a local Dairy Queen earlier this month.
According to a report filed by Smithville Police, a woman in her early thirties may have thought sunshine and soft-serve could make for the perfect combination, though she apparently felt clothing was optional. Witnesses reported that the female was seated at one of the outdoor tables, topless, soaking up the rays like it was her own private tanning salon.
Naturally, topless dining is not part of the DQ menu. When police arrived, they had a friendly little chat before charging her with public indecency. Two weeks later, she swapped the picnic table for a courtroom bench, appearing before a DeKalb County General Sessions Court judge.
Now, her case is headed toward the Grand Jury, which will decide whether to send it up to the Circuit Court—and on what charges. Until then, locals are left with more questions than answers. For instance: why choose Dairy Queen as the backdrop for a topless sunbathing session? And most importantly—did she at least order a Blizzard before the blue lights showed up?
