LA VERGNE, TN – A gun sale gone wrong unfolded on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at approximately 11:55 p.m. La Vergne Police officers responded to the parking lot of 5001 Murfreesboro Road in reference to an armed robbery. The address directed officers to the KFC restaurant located at the intersection of Nir Shreibman Boulevard and Murfreesboro Road.
Upon arrival, officers detained multiple individuals and began investigating. Authorities determined the incident stemmed from an attempted firearm sale, during which the suspect produced a handgun and attempted to steal the weapon. Officers quickly secured the scene, recovered both firearms involved, and took the suspect into custody without further incident.
The suspect has been charged with Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Assault and was transported to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office for booking. No physical injuries were reported.
Police commended one of the victims for calling 911 during the encounter, which allowed officers to respond quickly and safely apprehend the suspect.
