Nashville Teen Arrested for Allegedly Promoting Illegal Street Racing on Instagram

NASHVILLE, TN – An 18-year-old is behind bars after police say he used social media to promote illegal street racing events and reckless driving stunts. The most recent incident he was reportedly tied to was in Antioch along Cane Ridge Road. Maycol Castaneda Orellana

According to the Metro Nashville Police Traffic Unit, Maycol Castaneda Orellana was arrested on Monday following an investigation into an Instagram account that posted flyers, photos advertising dangerous street racer meetups and intersection takeovers. Investigators say the account encouraged drivers to gather at specific locations to perform donuts and other reckless maneuvers.

Messages and photos obtained through a search warrant revealed that Orellana was allegedly present at an August event on Cane Ridge Road where officers witnessed multiple vehicles spinning out, or doing donuts before fleeing the area.

Orellana now faces charges of inciting a riot and aggravated riot. He remains in jail on a $30,000 bond as the investigation into illegal street racing activity continues.
