MURFREESBORO, TN - While past court dates for a scheduled plea hearing in a Murfreesboro murder case were granted continuances earlier this year, it now appears the hearing set for this Friday is expected to move forward.

27-year-old Juan Charco and his brother were allegedly hauling a four-door sedan that the victim had previously purchased from Charco, according to information released by Murfreesboro Police shortly after the incident unfolded... That was Assistant Rutherford County District Attorney Trevor Lynch.

Investigators reported that Charco stopped at the 7-Eleven gas station near the I-24 and Joe B. Jackson Parkway interchange in Murfreesboro. It was there that the victim, Devon Loritts, and his brother, Eric Mitchell, took the car back — at gunpoint...

Authorities said that after the 23-year-old victim recovered his Chrysler 300, he and his brother began to leave. At that point, Charco is accused of retrieving a rifle from his vehicle and opening fire on the two men, discharging more than 20 rounds...

MPD arrived on the scene, locating the victims in the shooting... Charco is accused of firing more than 20 shots at the victims after they retrieved the car. As a result, he faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder when he appears in court this Friday morning at 9 a.m. in Rutherford County.

Meanwhile, Charco's brother who was not arrested, previously told another media outlet that his brother feared for his life during an altercation that occurred before the shooting. Investigators confirmed that a security camera captured much of the incident, and detectives reviewed the video as part of their investigation.
