A convicted felon remains in custody on a $104,000 bond after he was arrested on back-to-back nights, last night in a stolen Toyota Tacoma, taken out of Mt. Juliet, with guns and drugs inside.
Quendez Volland, 25, of Old Hickory, was arrested Tuesday night after he ran from officers at a shooting scene on Burning Tree Drive and was carrying a bag with a gun and marijuana inside. He was charged with evading and resisting arrest, criminal trespassing, marijuana possession, and gun charges. Volland was released Wednesday morning on $11,000 bond.
On Wednesday night, Violent Crimes Division detectives located Volland getting out of the stolen Tacoma at a Gallatin Pike gas station. As detectives approached Volland, he fled on foot into traffic while his 14-year-old passenger hopped into the driver’s seat and fled in the Tacoma.
Volland, a convicted felon out of Sumner County, was taken into custody.
The 14-year-old was located on East Old Hickory Boulevard near Sandhurst Drive after crashing the Tacoma into a guardrail. He also attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.
Inside the Tacoma, detectives located a loaded Glock handgun outside of the truck at the crash site and a second Glock between the driver’s seat and emergency brake. Marijuana and hydrocodone pills were also recovered.
Volland was charged last night with vehicle theft, evading arrest, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, reckless driving, and escaping custody as well as gun and drug charges.
The 14-year-old was charged in Juvenile Court with reckless driving, vehicle theft, evading arrest, juvenile handgun possession, leaving the scene, marijuana possession and not having a driver’s license.
Volland and the 14-year-old live on the same street in Old Hickory. As of 8 PM on Thursday, Volland remains behind bars.
