MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A case involving a girlfriend allegedly shooting and killing her significant other will go before the local courts in December. Detectives from the Murfreesboro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division arrested a 23-year-old woman in connection with the fatal shooting of her boyfriend on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

Shaquira Brown was charged with second-degree homicide in the death of 27-year-old Jaleel Turner. The shooting occurred around 2:00 p.m. at The Southern Apartments, located on Lascassas Pike.

According to the preliminary investigation, Turner was shot once inside the apartment following an argument with Brown. Shortly after, someone in a nearby apartment unit called police to report hearing gunshots. Officers arrived and found Brown in the apartment, along with her boyfriend Jaleel Turner, who had sustained a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. When police arrived he was non-responsive. While Brown was being questioned by officers, Turner was transported to the hospital, where he later died.

Following questioning, Brown was arrested. Since her arrest on October 13, 2024, the 23-year-old has remained in custody at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $750,000 bond. A hearing has been scheduled for December 2, 2025 in a Rutherford County General Sessions Courtroom.
