March had the highest number of calls for service at 3,242.

LA VERGNE, Tenn. – The month of August proved to be another busy one for the La Vergne Police Department. Officers responded to 2,453 calls for service, resulting in 210 arrests and 772 traffic stops. In addition, police seized drugs in 18 cases and issued 397 citations.

Removing impaired drivers from the road continues to be a top priority for law enforcement throughout Middle Tennessee. Last year, a new law took effect that increased penalties for drivers charged with aggravated vehicular assault or homicide while under the influence. Effective July 1, 2024, the legal blood alcohol concentration limit for enhanced charges was lowered from 0.20% to 0.15%. The law also increased sentencing, with offenders facing up to 60 years in prison if convicted of aggravated vehicular homicide, a Class A felony—especially if they have prior DUI convictions.

In August, La Vergne Police arrested 19 individuals for DUI, not including those arrested by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. That number marked an increase of five arrests compared to July, but a decrease when compared to June, which saw 34 DUI arrests—the highest total of the summer.

Over the past six months, La Vergne officers have made 132 DUI arrests. Officials noted that more detailed statistics will be available next month, providing a clearer picture as the summer season officially comes to a close on September 22, 2025.
