MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) — Murfreesboro City Schools (MCS) announced a leadership transition and celebrated board member achievements during this week’s School Board meeting.
After a decade of distinguished service, Butch Campbell has stepped down as Chair of the School Board. Campbell, who has guided the district with “respect, dignity, and clarity” over the past 10 years, will continue to serve as Vice Chair. His leadership has been instrumental in navigating the district through challenges, milestones, and successes.
Amanda Moore, who has a strong record of service to MCS, was elected as the new Chair. District officials praised Moore’s commitment to students and the community, noting that she will continue the tradition of strong, steady leadership.
In addition, several board members were recognized for their commitment to professional growth. Barbara Long, Karen Dodd, David Settles, and Jeanette Price advanced their Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) Boardsmanship Level at the Fall TSBA Conference. The program honors board members who dedicate time and energy to building leadership skills and expanding their knowledge to better serve their communities.
“These recognitions highlight the dedication and integrity of our School Board,” said Dr. Trey Duke, Director of Schools. “We are grateful for Mr. Campbell's decade of service as Chair, confident in Ms. Moore's leadership, and proud of the ongoing commitment of our board members to professional growth.”
