Murfreesboro, TN - Main Street Murfreesboro is calling on residents to help shape the future of the city’s historic downtown district through a brief online survey, open now through October 10, 2025. The survey takes less than 15 minutes to complete. The results  will help a new Transformation Strategy guiding the organization’s work over the next two years. You can find it on SurveyMonkey.

Downtown Murfreesboro has long been the heart of the community, with its roots stretching back to the early 1800s when the square served as the hub for commerce, civic life, and local gatherings. Today, its historic charm remains a vital part of the city’s identity, with preserved architecture, locally owned businesses, and a walkable layout that invites connection.

Main Street Murfreesboro’s upcoming strategy will focus on supporting small businesses, promoting the district, and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to thrive in historic spaces. The goal is to ensure downtown remains vibrant, inclusive, and economically strong.

On November 18, 2025, residents will also have the chance to participate in one-hour Community Focus Groups to share their vision for downtown. Executive Director Sarah Callender emphasized the importance of public input, saying, “Community input is at the heart of everything Main Street does.”

Preserving downtown Murfreesboro isn’t just about honoring the past—it’s about investing in a future that reflects the values, creativity, and spirit of the people who call this city home. For more information and ways to get involved, visit Main Street Murfreesboro’s website.
