UPDATE: MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – What comes after one woman is accused of taking bargain hunting to a whole new level… we may never know. But what we can confirm, thanks to the handiwork of Murfreesboro Police, is that detectives now say a “person of interest” has officially been identified.

This news comes after MPD reported that she was spotted rolling a cart through the Publix on Veterans Parkway near I-840, casually filling a large bag with 24 items that authorities say she never paid for. The date of the alleged incident, according to the photos released by police, September 13, 2025 at 3:19 in the afternoon.

Shortly after the alleged shoplifting incident, police publicly released photos of the subject and noted that the 5-0 would like to know the alleged thrifty shoplifter’s name — which, according to a post on Monday, they now have.

Publix, a store famous for its customer service and, apparently, its runway-quality lighting, isn’t usually the scene for such creative attempts at “free shopping.” Employees — many of whom are partial owners thanks to the company’s stock program — are said to be less than thrilled about such investment losses when they do occur in every department, from snack packs to household goods.

After this impromptu supermarket sweep, the mystery shopper allegedly skipped the cash registers entirely, demonstrating a bold new interpretation of “express checkout.” Detectives released photos of the suspect, circulating them on social media and politely asking anyone who recognized this master of retail innovation to contact Detective Gorham — and by the looks of it, someone did.

Evidently, MPD’s details and photos worked, because according to authorities, the “BOLO” has been “CANCELLED” and, “The female has been identified.”
