MT. JULIET, TN - A stolen Ford Mustang reported out of Kentucky just one day earlier was tracked into Mt. Juliet, where police license plate reader technology quickly flagged the vehicle. The car, a rare 2024 Dark Horse edition valued at around $80,000, was stopped along East Division Street on Wednesday afternoon.

In a written statement, Mt. Juliet Police confirmed, “The driver, a 37-year-old man from Murfreesboro, was quickly stopped and apprehended.” They added, “The Mustang was reported stolen out of Kentucky on September 16, 2025, after the suspect posed as a fake delivery service to fraudulently take possession of it.

The suspect was identified as 37-year-old Miller Marks. Officials revealed he had multiple outstanding warrants, including Rutherford County warrants for Violation of Probation (DUI) and Criminal Simulation in Murfreesboro, as well as Smyrna warrants for Failure to Appear in court on shoplifting charges.

Marks was booked into the Wilson County Jail on Wednesday evening at about 6 p.m. He now faces new charges for Theft of Property (stolen vehicle) and Driving on a Suspended License, in addition to the warrants already issued in Rutherford County. Police emphasized that the quick recovery was made possible by teamwork and advanced technology, noting that their Guardian Shield license plate reader program continues to play a critical role in solving cases and locating wanted individuals (SCROLL DOWN for more details on this story and an additional photo).

A Mustang Unlike Most - The car at the center of this arrest was not an ordinary Mustang. It was the 2024 Dark Horse edition, an $80,000 performance model typically equipped with a 500-horsepower 5.0-liter Coyote engine. That engine has symbolic weight for Mustang fans—it was the signature motor until Ford dropped it in 1995 in favor of a 4.6-liter V8, a move that drew heavy criticism from enthusiasts. The 5.0 was brought back in 2011, making the Dark Horse’s powertrain a nod to the Mustang’s roots.

Blacked out from top to bottom—wheels, mirrors, and trim—the Mustang had an unmistakably aggressive presence. But that same eye-catching look also made it a rolling bullseye for police, hardly the smartest getaway car for any thief. The model also features an exhaust system with four adjustable sound modes—from the subdued “Quiet Mode” to the ear-pounding “Track Mode.” Adding to its appeal, most Dark Horse Mustangs are fitted with manual transmissions, making them especially attractive to performance drivers who want the full muscle-car experience.

Police say recovering such a high-value vehicle so quickly highlights the effectiveness of their Guardian Shield program and the rapid coordination of officers across the region.
