Shawn Anglin, Jr., 24

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — A Murfreesboro man was arrested Thursday after nearly striking an officer with his vehicle, sparking a police pursuit that ended in a crash on Interstate 24. Authorities identified the suspect as Shawn Anglin, Jr., who now faces multiple felony charges.

According to investigators, a license plate reader alerted police to Anglin’s vehicle on Sept. 18, linking it to several reported crimes in the city. When officers located the car in the Aldi parking lot on Robert Rose Drive, they ordered Anglin to step out. Instead, he reversed suddenly, nearly hitting an officer with the door and ramming a patrol car before speeding off through a grassy area.

The chase ended on I-24 when 29-year-old Anglin collided with another patrol car. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is conducting the crash investigation.

Emergency crews transported Anglin to a hospital for evaluation before he was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. He faces charges including two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault, felony evading, and several other offenses. His bond was set at $158,000, and a hearing is scheduled for Nov. 4 in General Sessions Court.

The suspect was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center at 1 AM on Friday morning. At this time, he remains behind bars.
