Murfreesboro, TN - When Greenhouse Ministries puts out a call for help, it’s not because the community isn’t generous—it’s because the need has grown beyond what anyone expected. The Springhouse, their food pantry, is seeing shelves go bare faster than they can be restocked. Co-Founder Cliff Sharp recently shared on WGNS that the number of individuals seeking food assistance has nearly doubled in recent years. “We’re serving around 70 people a day,” he said. “And it’s not just the homeless. The cost of groceries, gas, rent—everything—is skyrocketing. People are struggling to make ends meet.”
Every week, families walk through the doors of Greenhouse Ministries looking for a little hope and a lot of help. The food pantry is one of the most direct ways they meet that need, but right now, it’s running low. The list of needed items includes staples like black beans, pinto beans, pasta and sauce, peanut butter and jelly, rice, soups, crackers, coffee, and canned meals like ravioli and Spaghetti O’s.
“Would you consider bringing in a few of these items this week?” Sharp asked. “Every can, every box, every jar adds up to meals for families who might otherwise go without.”
Donations can be dropped off at 307 S Academy Street, Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
Executive Director Christy Sanford added, “Your generosity makes a real difference. Together, we can ensure that no one leaves Greenhouse Ministries without food on their table and hope in their heart.”
And as Co-Founder Jane Sharp put it simply, “Thank you for always stepping up when the need is great—because of you, lives are being changed every day.”
Greenhouse Ministries' Spring House serves anyone in need that is looking for food, clothing, toiletries, and other basic necessities. It is located on S. Spring St. near E. Sevier, next to The Garden Patch Thrift Shop.
