Smyrna, TN - It was a tense moment Sunday (9/21/2025) afternoon for residents along the 500 block of Liberty Drive in Smyrna, as fire crews rushed to the scene of a garage fire that sent thick smoke billowing into the sky. The call came in around the 3:00 o'clock hour, prompting a swift response from Smyrna Fire Department teams.

When firefighters arrived, they were met with heavy smoke and visible flames pouring from an attached garage. Thankfully, the homeowner was able to confirm that everyone had made it out safely, allowing crews to focus entirely on battling the blaze. And battle they did—firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack, working quickly to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading into the main part of the house.

Their efforts paid off. The fire was held to the garage, sparing the rest of the home from damage. No injuries were reported among civilians or first responders, which is always a relief in situations like these.

As of now, the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Fire officials are working to determine what sparked the incident, but for neighbors and the homeowner, the quick response and successful containment were a welcome outcome in what could have been a much more devastating event.
