RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Gas Prices Dip in Tennessee, But Your Wallet Still Knows the Difference Between a Prius and an F-150
Good news for Tennessee drivers: gas prices have dropped slightly, though not quite enough to make us all want to take a road trip to California just yet. As of Monday morning, the statewide average for regular unleaded fuel is down to $2.77 per gallon. Premium fuel, however, still thinks it’s the VIP at the pump, holding steady at $3.62 per gallon.
For comparison, the national average is a little higher at $3.18 per gallon, which is almost the same price Tennesseans are paying for mid-grade at $3.23. Diesel, meanwhile, is hanging out in the middle at $3.38 per gallon statewide.
Here in Rutherford County, the average price for regular unleaded is a friendly $2.75, matching Bedford and Wilson counties. Cannon County, however, is charging a few extra pennies at $2.87, while Coffee County is right in line at $2.76. The steepest prices in Middle Tennessee belong to Williamson County, where drivers are shelling out $3.10 per gallon. Nashville sits in the middle at $2.89.
Putting numbers in perspective: Driving from Nashville to San Diego in different rides:
-
In a 2024 Ford F-150 4WD, you’ll pay about $238 each way. (Better bring your country music playlist and a credit card.)
-
In a 2024 Toyota Prius, it’s only $102 each way. (You’ll save enough for tacos once you hit California.)
-
And in a 2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range, the trip would cost you a mere $46.09 each way. (Just don’t forget where the chargers are.)
Closer to home, a round trip from Nashville to Memphis in that Tesla would cost $9.76, while the same trip in the F-150 will set you back about $51. That’s almost enough difference to buy a rack of ribs on Beale Street.
Gas may be cheaper this week, but no matter what you’re driving, one thing’s for sure: your vehicle choice has never spoken louder to your wallet.
