Downtown Murfreesboro’s First-Ever Brewery Set to Open in 2026

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) – A new downtown brewery, Smackdab Brewing, is planned for 401 W. Lytle St., at the corner of North Front Street and West Lytle Street, across from Brass Horn Coffee Roasters and just a few blocks from the historic square.

The brewery will occupy approximately 3,630 square feet, transforming an existing building for this purpose. Its design will include a visible brewhouse inside the taproom and outdoor patio space.

The owners, Jeff Bellamy, Brent Fagan, and Nowell Robbins, have been homebrewing and serving their beer at local festivals; this will be their first full-scale brewery location. Bellamy noted the choice of location is purposeful: “the square is coming along nicely … that’s where we’ve wanted to be the whole time.”

While the exact opening date isn’t confirmed, planning and permitting are underway, with a tentative opening scheduled for 2026

This would mark Murfreesboro’s first brewery located in the downtown core. The city has expressed support, noting interest in revitalizing the downtown area and enabling craft brewery operations within the city center.

Brass Horn Coffee Roasters, already established just across the street, adds to the local appeal. The shop has been known for its small‑batch roasting and its role in Murfreesboro’s local coffee culture.
