Braves Legend Brian Snitker Steps Down as Manager, Transitions to Advisory Role

ATLANTA, Ga. (WGNS) — The Atlanta Braves revealed plans for veteran manager Brian Snitker to relinquish his dugout responsibilities at the conclusion of the 2025 campaign on Wednesday (October 1st), moving instead to a senior advisory capacity within the club. This shift aligns with Snitker's upcoming milestone of five decades connected to the Braves across multiple roles.

Turning 70 on October 17th, Snitker first took the reins in 2016 as a temporary replacement for Fredi Gonzalez during a midseason overhaul. Across a span covering portions of 10 years, he posted a 54.8% success rate in regular-season contests, amassing 707 triumphs that place him third on the franchise's all-time list, surpassed solely by Bobby Cox and Frankie Selee.

Snitker's era featured a remarkable run of six consecutive NL East crowns from 2018 to 2023, capped by the 2021 World Series triumph—the team's second such feat since its 1966 relocation from Milwaukee.

His pre-managerial career spanned years in the Braves' ecosystem, encompassing duties as a major-league assistant, minor-league field boss, and an array of supporting functions. To mark the handover, the organization plans his enshrinement in the Braves Hall of Fame ahead of a 2026 home contest.

Atlanta's 2025 slate ended with a 76-86 mark, a third-place divisional standing, and their first postseason absence since 2017.
