Murfreesboro, TN - There’s a fresh new face in the Mercury Plaza Shopping Center, and it’s already turning heads. On Thursday (10/2/2025) America’s Thrift Store officially opened its doors at 1030 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., and the Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce was there to help celebrate the grand opening.
Miranda Manning, one of the store’s team members, described the layout as a shopper’s dream. “In keeping with the image of other America’s Thrift Stores, the merchandise is organized and displayed so that customers can easily select what’s best for them,” she said. And she wasn’t exaggerating— the store boasts over 150 category labels, making it easy to find everything from clothing and books to home furnishings and décor.
Nathan Miller, another store representative, explained what makes this thrift store stand out. “We pride ourselves in turning over the merchandise very quickly along with stocking new merchandise daily. That’s why we describe our retail business as ‘Where You’ll Find A New Store Every Day.’” It’s a concept that’s catching on fast, especially with bargain hunters who love the thrill of the find.
The Murfreesboro location is encouraging locals to donate gently used items. Miller added, “If you live in Murfreesboro and have more than two bags of donations in good and ready-to-use condition, schedule a FREE home pickup.” For added convenience, donation bins are located at 5353 NW Broad St. and 4303 Sulphur Springs Rd. in Murfreesboro, and at 2205 Almaville Rd. in Smyrna.
This is Tennessee’s third America’s Thrift Store, joining locations in Chattanooga and Knoxville. While the majority of stores are in Alabama, the brand is growing steadily across Georgia and other southeastern cities.
Whether you’re looking to shop, donate, or just explore something new, Murfreesboro’s latest addition is ready to welcome you in— and you might just leave with a treasure or two.
