La Vergne, TN - Get ready for an action-packed evening this Tuesday, October 7, as the La Vergne Police Department hosts its annual National Night Out at Veterans Memorial Park, located at 115 Floyd Mayfield Drive. The event runs from 5:30 to 8:00 PM, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting nights of the year for families and community members alike.

La Vergne Police Chief Christopher Moews is encouraging everyone to arrive by 6:00 PM sharp. That’s when the real excitement begins. “There will be some thrilling demonstrations that start right at 6 o’clock,” he said. “Officers are going all out to make them life-like in every way.” Because of the intensity and realism of these demos, spectators will be asked to stay within a designated watch area marked off with police tape.

Expect loud noises, fast action, and maybe even a few flying objects. The full SWAT Team will roll in aboard their armored vehicle to show how a strong show of force can quickly deescalate dangerous hostage situations. You’ll also get a front-row view of La Vergne’s K-9 officers in action, demonstrating how they’re trained to swiftly take down suspects.

And if you’ve ever wondered how police drones work, you’re in for a treat. The Drone Team will show off their high-tech gear, including heat-sensing cameras used to locate missing persons or track down escapees.

National Night Out is more than just a show— it’s a nationwide campaign sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the communities they serve. La Vergne’s version of the event is all about bringing neighbors together, building trust, and having a little fun along the way.

So grab the kids, bring a lawn chair, and head to Veterans Park this Tuesday night. It’s not every day you get to see your local police in action— and in such a dramatic way.
