COFFEE COUNTY, TN - The Coffee County Board of Education has confirmed that a middle school student is under investigation after allegedly making a series of verbal threats against other students and the school. According to a letter from Director of Schools Scott Hargrove, the threats were reported to school staff, who immediately contacted the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department. The incident is being handled as a serious safety concern under the district’s zero-tolerance policy.

Hargrove stated that the parents of the students named in the alleged threats have been informed. While additional details were not released due to privacy reasons, officials emphasized that the district considers any form of threat a major infraction that will be dealt with accordingly.

In his message, Hargrove reassured families that Coffee County schools remain safe and that safety continues to be the district’s top priority. He urged parents to speak with their children about the consequences of making threats and to encourage positive behavior that supports a safe school environment.

The director also thanked Sheriff Chad Partin and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office for their quick response and partnership in maintaining school safety. Hargrove encouraged anyone with information about potential safety concerns to notify a teacher, staff member, or administrator immediately.
