Farley’s record of service spans decades — from his time as a Rutherford County Commissioner (1994–2014) and member of the County Planning Commission (2006–2010), to his ongoing role on the Rutherford County Board of Zoning Appeals. Most recently, Farley served as the Assistant Commissioner for Fire Prevention with the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, where he oversaw the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Tennessee Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Academy, and the Tennessee Firefighting Commission.
