La Vergne, TN: The La Vergne Police Department isn’t just talking tough—they’re backing it up. On Monday (10/6/2025), Chief Christopher Moews swore in four new officers at City Hall, reinforcing the department’s commitment to keeping the city safe.
Dispatcher Chenevert steps into a vital role—she is now part of the team that handles emergency and non-emergency calls.
Chief Moews didn’t mince words about the importance of dispatchers, calling them “the first contact in a moment of crisis.” He praised their ability to stay calm and compassionate under pressure, saying, “It’s a very difficult job to try to help somebody when you’re not physically there.”
Then 3 patrol officers were sworn in. The oath of office was taken by Patrol Officers Keller Nail, Lloyd Selph, and Jacque Sugita. After months of rigorous training, they’re ready to hit the streets.
The chief congratulated the new officers and challenged them to uphold the department’s value. He noted, “We’re building something special here in La Vergne.”
Chief Moews concluded, “With these new additions, La Vergne is sending a message loud and clear: this city is serious about safety, and criminals should think twice.”
