Murfreesboro, TN - Oaklands Mansion, 901 N. Maney Ave., is pulling back the velvet curtain on two unforgettable Halloween experiences—one steeped in 1920s glamour and ghostly intrigue, the other filled with family-friendly frights and local lore.
Halloween Speakeasy - On Thursday and Friday evenings, October 16 and 17, guests 21 and up are invited to step into a world of forbidden revelry during’t your average haunted house, this is a speakeasy hidden in plain sight.
Inside, the air will hum with prohibition era jazz courtesy of The Quarterlife Band, while guests sip an Old Fashioned Oaklands’ Halloween Mansion Tour. With entry times at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30PM, the evening promises a staggered and secretive arrival into the historic halls of this 19th-century estate. But this isn and other specialty cocktails served by Julie’s Bartending. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be offered, and while 1920s Casual Cocktail attire is encouraged, it’s not required—though it might just help you blend in with the spirits of the past.
After mingling with ghosts and glamour, guests can wind down beside the fire pit or wander through the pumpkin patch, where pumpkins will be available for purchase.
Admission is $75 for adults 21 and older, and once inside, guests are welcome to stay as long as they like.
Oakland's for little ghouls and goblins - But Oaklands hasn’t forgotten the little ghouls and goblins. On Monday, October 20, from 7:00 to 8:00PM, the mansion opens its doors for a free evening of haunted storytelling, perfect for families. The ‘Boro Tellers—local favorites Diana Hauge and David Lasseter—will spin eerie tales from Rutherford County’s past, sharing odd and unusual stories that have lingered through the years.
Children are encouraged to come in costume, and adults can join the fun too—if they dare. It’s a night of spooky storytelling that’s rich in local history and light on the fright, making it ideal for all ages.
