SHELBYVILLE, TN — WGNS has an update to a graveyard vandalism case that unfolded about 20 minutes south of Murfreesboro around one week ago. Authorities in neighboring Bedford County have since confirmed the identity of two suspects after asking for the public’s assistance in solving this disturbing case of vandalism. Despite the confirmation, police have not released the names of the suspects at this time.

The Shelbyville Police Department previously reported that two individuals — a man and a woman — may be connected to damage recently discovered at Willow Mount Cemetery. Detectives say the pair were caught on camera near the intersection of Highway 41 and Lane Parkway in Shelbyville. Investigators later released photos showing the duo alongside a mid-2010s Chevrolet Traverse, which was reportedly seen parked in the cemetery around the time of the vandalism.

While the extent of the damage has not yet been released, police are treating the case as a serious act of vandalism, given the location’s sacred nature. Authorities hope someone may recognize the individuals — or at least the vehicle — and come forward with information.

Anyone with additional information regarding the cemetery vandalism case is urged to contact Detective Dylan Farrar at 931-684-5811.
