Small Dog Survives Double Shooting Near I-840; Authorities Seek Suspect

Oct 15, 2025 at 07:33 pm by WGNS News

WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is asking for the public’s help in a heartbreaking case of animal cruelty after a small black dog was found shot twice. The animal was located about 15 minutes northwest of Murfreesboro near I-840 and the Gladeville community.

On September 18, 2025, Wilson County Animal Control (WCAC) officers responded to a report on Oak Grove Road regarding a small injured dog. When officers arrived, they found the dog wearing a blue collar and suffering from a severely damaged front right leg.

The animal was immediately transported to a local veterinarian, where x-rays revealed bullet fragments in the injured leg. Further examination determined the dog had been shot twice — once grazing the spine, and another bullet striking the front right leg at the elbow, shattering the bone.

Authorities have not yet identified a suspect and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and successful prosecution of the person or persons responsible for this cruel act.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Donnell with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office at 615-444-1412, or call the Wilson County Animal Control office at 615-444-9775.
