La Vergne, TN - La Vergne city offices remain closed to the public as officials respond to a cybersecurity breach that disrupted municipal operations. The shutdown, which began Friday morning (10/17/2025) after unusual activity was detected on the city’s network, has prompted an investigation involving the FBI, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and a third-party cybersecurity team.
In response to the breach, city staff swiftly took the network offline and sent employees home early. They are expected to return Monday afternoon, though work processes are still being assessed by supervisors and managers.
With digital systems temporarily unavailable, La Vergne is turning to manual methods to maintain essential services.
“We are checking all computers on our network,” said city administrator Bruce Richardson. “It’s going to be a long process but we are here to continue supporting our community. We ask for patience and understanding as we go through this situation.”
Residents are encouraged to follow the city’s social media channels or sign up for Notify Me at LaVergneTn.gov for the latest updates.
