LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WGNS) — A crash involving two Rutherford County school buses Monday morning in La Vergne left one person injured, according to school officials.

The crash happened at the intersection of Fergus Road and North Lowry Street (Highway 41).

James Evans, spokesperson for Rutherford County Schools, said the collision involved a larger bus and a smaller transport bus. Preliminary reports indicate the smaller bus turned in front of the larger one, which then struck the side of the smaller vehicle near the lift area.

There were no students on the smaller bus at the time of the crash—only the driver and an aide. The larger bus was carrying 11 students, but no student injuries were reported.

“The aide on the small bus was reportedly treated, but I don’t know the extent of injuries,” Evans said.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
