Murfreesboro, TN - Rutherford County is once again searching for its brightest stars—the volunteers who make our community stronger, kinder, and more connected. The Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards (GVSA) is now accepting nominations for its 2025 honors, recognizing one adult and one youth whose service stands out in a big way.

Whether it’s mentoring students, organizing food drives, supporting faith-based outreach, or helping neighbors in need, this award celebrates those who go above and beyond. Nominees must live in Rutherford County and have made a meaningful impact through unpaid service. National Service participants like AmeriCorps and Foster Grandparents are also eligible.

But this isn’t just about hours—it’s about heart. The nomination narrative should tell the story of how the volunteer met a real need, took initiative, and inspired others. Judges will look for creativity, commitment, and lasting impact. A photo or two helps bring that story to life.

Nominations can be submitted by anyone, including the volunteers themselves. Just be sure to follow the specific Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards guidelines—especially the narrative format—and submit everything by Friday, November 7 at noon.
