La Vergne, TN - It’s been a week since La Vergne’s computer systems were compromised in a cybersecurity incident, and city staff are now working steadily to bring operations back online. The breach, which occurred on October 17, forced a temporary shutdown of many services, but a soft reopening is planned for Monday, October 27—with a few caveats.
If you’re heading to City Hall next week, expect limited functionality. Staff won’t be able to check account balances or access records, but several departments will be open and ready to assist in person. Payments by check or money order will be accepted at the Water Billing and Tax Departments, though residents are asked to bring their water bills with them to help streamline the process.
The Public Works Building at 1500 E. Nir Shreibman Blvd. will be open, and the Codes and Planning Departments are expected to operate mostly as usual. Parks and Recreation is also up and running—and just in time for the Goblins & Goodies event at the park this weekend. Meanwhile, the Police and Fire & Rescue Departments have remained fully operational throughout the disruption.
Some services, however, will remain offline. The Library is not reopening just yet, though the book drop is available for returns. City Court also remains closed until further notice.
Behind the scenes, the city’s IT department is working around the clock to inspect and verify each computer system before it’s brought back into use. Access to data will remain restricted until the investigation into the breach is complete. In the meantime, city staff are doing their best to maintain essential services and keep the community informed.
La Vergne officials are asking for patience as they navigate this recovery process. For updates, residents are encouraged to go to lavergnetn.gov/list.aspx.
