Even as the leaves fall and temperatures dip, Rutherford County is keeping the spirit of fresh, local food alive. The UT-TSU Agricultural Extension's Rutherford County Farmers Market has announced a brand-new Winter/Spring Market season, giving residents a chance to shop local well beyond the traditional growing months. That now makes this a "Year Around" Farmers Market!
Starting November 7, 2025, and continuing through April 2026, the market will be open every Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon at Lane Agri-Park, located at 315 John R. Rice Boulevard in Murfreesboro. The only exceptions will be the Fridays following Thanksgiving and Christmas—November 28th and December 26th—when the market will be closed.
UT-TSU Agricultural Extension Service's Ruthrford County Director Anthony Tuggle said, "This seasonal extension is more than just a schedule change. It’s a commitment to community, agriculture, and year-round access to fresh, locally made goods. Shoppers can expect a wide variety of offerings, from seasonal produce and herbs to mushrooms, meats, baked goods, canned items, and more—all sourced from local vendors who bring their best to the table, no matter the weather."
Tuggle continued, "For the Rutherford County Farmers Market this move is a natural next step in its mission to connect neighbors with the bounty of local farms. By stretching into the colder months, the UT-TSU Agricultural Extension's market ensures that families can continue to enjoy nutritious, homegrown food while supporting the hardworking producers who make it all possible."
The Winter/Spring Market will run right up until the regular market season kicks off again in May 2026. For those interested in becoming a vendor or staying updated on seasonal offerings, the Agricultural Extension Office is ready to help. It’s a fresh chapter for local food—and it starts this November 7, 2025.
