MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) — The Eagleville Lady Eagles made school history Thursday by winning their first-ever state volleyball championship, defeating Gordonsville 3–1 in the TSSAA Division I Class A State Championship at MTSU’s Murphy Center.
Eagleville dropped the first set 15–25 but rallied to win the next three, 25–15, 25–13, and 25–20, to secure the title.
Senior Campbell Leathers was named the championship game’s Most Valuable Player, finishing with 23 kills, a .125 hitting percentage, and 7 digs to lead the Lady Eagles.
This marks the first volleyball state title in school history for Eagleville, adding to a growing list of athletic accomplishments for the program.
MTCS' DII-A championship on Thursday marked the first ever state title for a Rutherford County volleyball team and the next day Eagleville secures the first one for a county school.
