Murfreesboro, TN - It was the kind of moment that could have easily gone unnoticed—except WGNS happened to be there. Around 1:15PM Wednesday afternoon, in the middle of a steady rain and heavy traffic, two Murfreesboro Police Officers were spotted helping a senior citizen whose vehicle had stalled at the turn signal on Memorial Blvd.
The SUV was stuck in a tough spot, right at the entrance to a busy shopping complex. But instead of frustration or honking horns, passing motorists showed patience and courtesy, easing around the scene as the officers worked.
One officer stood at the driver’s side window, speaking calmly with the seniors inside, offering reassurance and a sense of safety. The other officer was making sure the battery jump wires were properly connected. It wasn’t glamorous work, and it certainly wasn’t dry. But it was the kind of service that speaks volumes.
WGNS has long believed that our local police go out of their way to help others, and this was a prime example. These officers didn’t have to stand in the rain. They didn’t have to get involved with jumper cables and stalled engines. But they did—because they care.
So the next time you see a local officer, deputy, or trooper lending a hand, let WGNS know. These everyday moments of kindness deserve to be seen, shared, and celebrated. After all, it’s not just about keeping the peace—it’s about keeping the Heart of Tennessee strong.
