From Siegel to the District: Larry Creasy Steps into New Leadership Role

Murfreesboro, TN - As the calendar turns to 2026, Rutherford County Schools will welcome a familiar face into a new district-wide role. Larry Creasy, who has led Siegel High School for the past 12 years, will become the secondary coordinator in the district’s instruction department starting in January. Director of Schools Dr. Jimmy Sullivan announced the appointment this week, praising Creasy’s decades of leadership across both middle and high school levels.

“Mr. Creasy is an exceptional leader,” Sullivan said. “He brings a knowledge set and leadership experience that will greatly benefit our high schools, the school district, and students.”

Creasy succeeds Dr. Dawn Poole, who will retire at the end of December.

While the move marks a new chapter, Creasy says leaving Siegel isn’t easy.

“Siegel has been my professional home,” he shared. “I’m deeply grateful for the relationships and experiences I’ve had there.”

Still, he’s energized by the opportunity to serve the district more broadly.

“I’m excited to work alongside Dr. Kelly Chastain and our amazing high school principals,” Creasy said. “I look forward to contributing to the continued success of our schools and thank Dr. Sullivan for this opportunity.”

Creasy’s career spans more than 30 years, beginning as a teacher and coach at Smyrna High. He was the founding principal of Stewarts Creek Middle School and has held assistant principal roles at both Smyrna and Siegel Middle Schools. He’s also served in summer school leadership positions.

Creasy holds multiple advanced degrees, including an education specialist degree in curriculum and instruction.

With his transition underway, the district will begin its search for Siegel High School’s next principal immediately.
