Rutherford County Libraries Adjust Schedules to Better Serve You

Nov 03, 2025 at 10:39 am by WGNS News

Murfreesboro, TN - When December arrives, so do new hours for three branches of the Rutherford County Library System (RCLS). Starting December 1, 2025, Linebaugh Public Library, Eagleville Bicentennial Public Library, and the Technology Engagement Center (TEC) will shift their schedules to better reflect how—and when patrons across the county are using their local libraries.

Library Director Luanne James noted, “We are constantly assessing how and when our community uses our libraries. These revised hours take that into account and guarantee that we are providing service at the times that are most convenient for our patrons while maximizing our available resources.”

Here’s what that means for visits after December 1st: Linebaugh Library in downtown Murfreesboro will now be closed on Sundays, but open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 9 to 5. Over in Eagleville, the Bicentennial Public Library will welcome guests from noon to 6 p.m. on weekdays, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays—perfect for a quick weekend story time or book pickup. Meanwhile, the TEC, known for its hands-on tech tools and creative spaces, will now open on Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m., and stay open late Monday through Thursday until 9 p.m.

And if your schedule doesn’t quite line up with the new hours, don’t worry—RCLS’s digital branch never closes. Patrons can access eBooks, audiobooks, and online learning tools anytime, day or night, at rclstn.org.

Whether you’re diving into genealogy at the Historical Research Center on Rice Street, browsing bestsellers at Linebaugh, or exploring new tech at TEC, the library system is evolving right alongside its readers. For more information, call 615-893-4131 or visit rclstn.org.
