MURFREESBORO, TN - Murfreesboro families with high-achieving young learners have a unique opportunity on the horizon. Discovery School, the city’s academically accelerated elementary program, will begin accepting applications for the 2026–27 school year starting December 1, 2025. The application window remains open through January 31, 2026, giving families two full months to explore and apply.
Founded in 2005, Discovery School serves gifted students from kindergarten through sixth grade, offering a curriculum designed to challenge and inspire. With sixty seats available for incoming kindergartners and limited openings in other grades, the school encourages early engagement from interested families.
To help parents navigate the admissions process, Discovery School will host three informational sessions. The first, an in-person event on Thursday, November 13 at 6:00 p.m., includes a school tour and presentation, with childcare available by advance registration. A virtual Zoom session follows on Thursday, December 11 at 3:30 p.m., ideal for families who prefer to attend remotely. The final meeting, scheduled for Monday, January 5 at 2:30 p.m., offers a relaxed setting for last-minute questions before the deadline.
Principal Dr. Caitlin Bullard shared her enthusiasm: “We’re excited to welcome new families to Discovery School. These sessions give parents an opportunity to explore our learning community and see firsthand how we support academic curiosity and growth.”
Discovery School’s accolades continue to grow. Recently re-designated as a Tennessee STEAM school, it also earned Reward School and Level 5 status, was named a National Beta School of Merit, and received national recognition as a K–12 Tree Campus by the Arbor Day Foundation. The school was nominated for the National Blue Ribbon honor for the third time this year.
