It’s never a good idea to be involved in knock-off products that appear to be real, but are not. A Rutherford County Salon has found themselves in that predicament.
The Merle Norman Salon on Rock Springs Road in Smyrna is being sued for $16-million. The reason for the lawsuit is because they were allegedly selling fake Coach handbags for about $65 each. Real ones sell for $285. The suit is for the salon reportedly violating trademark laws. The case is an intellectual property suit. Intellectual property is a work that is the result of creativity, such as a purse designed by Coach, in this particular situation.
In 2012 a Murfreesboro store was sued by Coach after being accused of selling knock-off products. In that case Hair In-X-S got the message loud and clear that it was against the law to sell the fake Coach purses. They were sued for several million dollars.
Coach has 50-Plus active lawsuits across the United States right now.
