MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, City Hall and most Murfreesboro city offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, 2025. LOCAL SCHOOLS: Both City of Murfreesboro Schools and Rutherford County Schools will be closed to students all week, Monday, November 24, 2025 through Friday, November 28, 2025.
Solid Waste Department

Closed Thursday, Nov. 27 – No garbage collection on Thanksgiving Day.

Thursday routes will be collected Friday, Nov. 28.

SMYRNA, TN CLOSINGS: In Smyrna, most of the government operated offices will be closed, outside of emergency responders. The Town Hall will be shut down on Thanksgiving, Thursday and the following day of Friday (November 27 and 28).
As noted, all emergency services: Fire, Police, Water Treatment, and Waste Water Treatment personnel will be working Thanksgiving.
LA VERGNE, TN CLOSINGS: In La Vergne, all city offices will be closed for Thanksgiving on both November 27 and 28 (Thursday and Friday). However, all emergency responders will be working.
As noted, all emergency services to include La Vergne Fire and Police personnel will be working Thanksgiving.
RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN: Throughout Rutherford County, all government offices will be closed on both Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28, 2025. However, all county operated emergency responders will be working as scheduled. This includes Fire, EMS, Sheriff's Office and any other essential emergency related personnel.
