NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In Nashville, an escape warrant has been issued for 20-year-old Marcus Stanton, who briefly slipped away from officers after being taken into custody and later fleeing from police while handcuffed. Stanton was originally apprehended Tuesday night after detectives with the Metro Police Violent and Vehicle Crimes unit  linked him to multiple criminal offenses and attempted to stop him near his Pippen Drive residence.

According to investigators, Stanton fled from the home in a white Lexus that had been reported stolen out of Murfreesboro, driving at a high rate of speed and weaving recklessly through residential areas. After abandoning the Lexus, Stanton ran through backyards before returning to his residence, where he barricaded himself for hours. Detectives ultimately located him hiding in the attic behind a cardboard wall he constructed to conceal himself. Inside the stolen Lexus, officers recovered an AR-15 pistol, which had been sitting in the front seat.

While searching the property, detectives also discovered a red Nissan Maxima parked in the driveway that had also been reported stolen, along with a second AR-15 lower receiver stolen from a Knoxville gun show. Investigators recovered programmable key fobs, a Dodge key fob, a Tennessee dealer tag, drug paraphernalia, and approximately 21 grams of marijuana.

Before being booked, Stanton told officers he had consumed fentanyl and was transported to General Hospital in Nashville for treatment. After being medically cleared, he was taken into custody—but while handcuffed behind his back and being escorted to a patrol vehicle, he escaped again, fleeing on foot from the hospital area. Despite a foot pursuit, he managed to elude officers and remains at large.

In addition to the escape warrant, Stanton faces multiple outstanding charges including two counts of vehicle theft, theft of a firearm, theft of property, possession of burglary tools, evidence tampering, drug possession, reckless driving, and driving on a revoked license. His prior arrests since November 2023 include firearm theft, property theft, vehicle theft, evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, and felony marijuana possession—three cases that were settled on August 28, resulting in three years of probation.

Anyone seeing Stanton or knowing his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
