Oakland’s Craig Tutt Named Mr. Football Finalist

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WGNS) - Oakland High School standout Craig Tutt has been named one of three statewide finalists for the 2025 Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Award in Division I, Class 6A, highlighting another dominant season for the Patriots and placing him among the elite high school football players in Tennessee.

Tutt wasn’t the only local athlete recognized this year. His Oakland teammate Joel Wyatt (pronounced joe-EL) was also selected as a semifinalist, and Sean Birkofer of Providence Christian Academy earned a semifinalist spot as well, adding to Rutherford County’s strong showing in the statewide awards.

The Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards will be presented to the top players in each of the nine TSSAA classifications on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. The state’s top kicker will also be honored with a separate award, regardless of classification.

Five semifinalists in each division were announced November 6, but the field was narrowed to three finalists in each category Tuesday evening during a statewide broadcast with Taylor Zarzour and Titans interim head coach Mike McCoy. Tutt will now attend the awards luncheon at Nissan Stadium where the winners will be revealed.

A committee of statewide sports writers selected the finalists based on regular-season performance, with academics and character also taken into account. Nominations were submitted by high school coaches and media members.

“We are very appreciative of the Tennessee Titans for their continued support of these awards,” said Mark Reeves, Executive Director of the TSSAA. “Having the awards presented at Nissan Stadium will provide a very special atmosphere for these outstanding student-athletes.”

This marks the 41st year of the Mr. Football program. Winners will receive the coveted Mr. Football trophy, while the other two finalists in each classification will receive a plaque. All remaining semifinalists will be awarded certificates.

Zarzour, the play-by-play voice of the Titans, will emcee the presentation, which will be livestreamed on the Titans’ website.
