Rutherford County, TN - On Saturday night (11/29/2025), a dramatic incident unfolded near the 74-mile marker on I-24 East (toward Chattanooga). A vehicle veered off the roadway and caught fire in the woods, prompting a swift response from both law enforcement and the community. Before Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue units arrived, a sheriff’s deputy and a bystander managed to remove the occupant from the burning vehicle, demonstrating remarkable courage and teamwork.

Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue’s Ladder 11 was the first unit to reach the scene, where firefighters found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Wasting no time, they pulled a handline and quickly brought the fire under control.

Rutherford County EMS then transported the patient to the ER at Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.
