SMYRNA, Tenn. (WGNS) – After more than two decades as a community staple, Hickory Falls Restaurant in Smyrna announced it will close at the end of December as its founders prepare to retire.

In an open letter posted to Facebook, owners Peter Kehayes, Mark Robbins and Paul Kehayes shared the news with what they called their “Hickory Falls family,” thanking the Smyrna community for 21 years of unwavering support.

“For the past 21 years the Smyrna community has supported us through thick and thin, and we will never be able to thank you enough,” the letter reads. The owners described the decision to close as “very personal,” noting that the restaurant has been far more than a business—“it has been our home, and you have been our extended family.”

Hickory Falls, on Sam Ridley Parkway, known for its warm atmosphere and comfort-driven menu, has hosted everything from first dates and rehearsal dinners to baby showers, retirement parties and post–little league celebrations. The owners said being part of those moments has been one of the greatest honors of operating the restaurant.

They also credited their longtime staff, calling them “the heart and soul of Hickory Falls.” Many employees have spent years building close relationships with customers—remembering regular orders, offering recommendations, and welcoming both newcomers and returning guests with the same familiar hospitality.

The restaurant will remain open through December 27, 2025. As in past years, it will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The owners encouraged anyone with gift cards to visit soon, saying they “can’t wait to see you.”

“Again, thank you for all of your support from the bottom of our hearts,” the letter concludes. “We hope to see you soon.”
