La VERGNE, TN - Saturday night (12/6/2025) around 10:36PM an officer spotted a vehicle speeding down Murfreesboro Rd. at speeds around 75 miles per hour. The police officer quickly turned around and began pursuit. The driver pulled over on Dick Buchanan Street and stepped out of the car, but what seemed like a routine stop quickly escalated.

Additional officers arrived to assist, and it didn’t take long before the situation revealed more than reckless driving. Officers reported detecting the odor of alcohol and marijuana, prompting a probable cause search of the vehicle. What they found was a stash that included over 100 grams of marijuana, crushed oxycodone, THC wax, ecstasy, Adderall, brass knuckles, and a digital scale.

The driver was taken into custody and now faces a long list of charges. Among them are felony evading, reckless driving, felony possession of Schedule I, II, and VI substances, prohibited weapons, and drug paraphernalia.

Police say this arrest highlights their ongoing efforts to keep dangerous drivers and illegal drugs off the streets. The La Vergne Police Department emphasized that their officers remain committed to protecting the community, and Saturday night’s incident is another example of their vigilance.

For residents, the sight of flashing lights and officers working late into the night was a reminder of how quickly routine traffic enforcement can uncover serious threats. While the driver’s reckless speed initially drew attention, it was the discovery inside the vehicle that underscored the risks posed to the community.

The department expressed gratitude for the teamwork and quick response of its officers, noting that their actions prevented further danger on Murfreesboro Road. As the case moves forward, the charges reflect the seriousness of the situation, but for now, La Vergne police say the streets are safer thanks to decisive action.

Word of the arrest spread quickly, reinforcing the message that reckless driving and drug possession won’t be tolerated. For those traveling through La Vergne, Saturday night’s events serve as a clear reminder: the police are watching, and they’re ready to act.
