MURFREESBORO, TN — As December unfolds, the American Red Cross is urging Murfreesboro residents to make an appointment to donate blood or platelets. The need is especially urgent for O positive, O negative, and B negative donors, with the Heart of Tennessee Chapter ready to welcome you at 501 Memorial Blvd.

Why the rush? Every year, blood donations drop during the holidays. People are busy with parties, travel, and family gatherings, but the demand for blood doesn’t slow down—in fact, it often goes up. December is one of the deadliest months for drivers in the U.S., according to the National Safety Council and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. More people on the road means more accidents, and that means more patients relying on blood products already on the shelves.

This month is also the National Month of Giving, and the Red Cross is encouraging everyone to start a new tradition: donate blood or platelets and help spread comfort and hope. When emergencies happen, your donation can make all the difference.
