SMYRNA, TN - Rutherford County Commissioner Anthony Johnson, a conservative Republican and U.S. Army Veteran, has officially announced his intention to seek re-election to the Rutherford County Commission, District 11, in the 2026 Republican Primary. Johnson, who has represented District 11 with a focus on fiscal responsibility and conservative values, says his military background continues to shape his approach to public service.

“As a veteran, I learned the importance of duty, accountability, and putting others before myself,” Johnson shared. “Those same principles guide my service on the County Commission. I am running for re-election to continue fighting for responsible budgeting, limited government, and the values that make Rutherford County a great place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Since first taking office, Johnson has emphasized protecting taxpayers, supporting law enforcement and first responders, and encouraging responsible growth while preserving the character of Rutherford County. His leadership style blends military discipline with practical decision-making, aiming to balance progress with tradition.

Looking ahead, Johnson says his campaign will continue to prioritize transparency and conservative stewardship of taxpayer dollars. He also stressed the importance of listening to the citizens of District 11, ensuring their voices remain central to county decisions.

“I am grateful for the trust the voters have placed in me,” Johnson said. “Together, we have made progress, but there is still important work to do.”

With his announcement, Johnson enters the 2026 Republican Primary seeking the continued support of District 11 voters. He believes his record of service and commitment to conservative principles will resonate with residents who value accountability and community-focused leadership.
