MURFREESBORO, TN - The City Schools Foundation is preparing to host its 19th annual Excellence in Education event on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the elegant Macca Villa at Riverside, located at 1218 W. Jefferson Pike in Murfreesboro. Known for its Italian-inspired architecture and upscale amenities, Macca Villa will provide a memorable backdrop for the Foundation’s signature fundraiser, which brings together educators, community leaders, and supporters to honor outstanding achievements in local education.
Founded in 2005, the City Schools Foundation has become a vital partner for Murfreesboro City Schools, serving more than 9,000 pre-K through 6th grade students. Its mission is simple yet powerful: to bring local resources to bear on local needs, ensuring every child has access to enhanced educational opportunities. The Foundation focuses on boosting science and math education, encouraging academic competition, and promoting financial parity across schools so that all students benefit equally.
Funds raised during the Excellence in Education event go directly to teacher grants, classroom resources, and enrichment programs in science, math, and the arts. These grants have helped teachers introduce innovative lessons, expand access to technology, and create hands-on learning experiences that inspire young minds.
The Foundation is also known for its creative community engagement, hosting events like the Serve It Up Pickleball and Tennis Tournaments, which combine fun competition with fundraising for classroom grants. Seasonal sponsorship opportunities further connect local businesses and residents with schools, reinforcing the idea that education is a shared responsibility.
Murfreesboro City Schools serve only elementary grades, making the Foundation’s role especially critical. By strengthening early education, the Foundation helps prepare students for middle school and beyond, laying the groundwork for lifelong success.
“The Excellence in Education event is more than a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of the teachers, students, and community members who make Murfreesboro schools thrive,” organizers noted. “It’s about recognizing the importance of investing in our children’s future.”
Additional details, including the honoree, will be shared in mid-January. Mark your calendars and join us for an inspiring evening dedicated to advancing educational excellence.
