RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Chuck Isbell has officially announced his candidacy for the Rutherford County School Board in District 1, running on a platform centered on parental rights, transparency, and fiscal responsibility in public education.

Isbell said his campaign is focused on expanding opportunities for parents and the public to engage directly with the school board while strengthening oversight of how education dollars are spent. He describes his approach as “Parental Rights First,” emphasizing that families should have a stronger voice in decisions that affect students and classrooms.

A conservative Republican, Isbell brings a record of civic and community involvement to his campaign. He has previously served as treasurer for the La Vergne Housing Authority Committee and as a member of the La Vergne Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. His volunteer work extends across Middle Tennessee, including involvement with United Way of Nashville, Walk Bike Nashville, Families for Safe Streets, and service as a safety advocate for the state of Tennessee.

Isbell has lived in Rutherford County for more than 29 years, residing in both La Vergne and Smyrna. He is the father of three children and the grandfather of two. His family background includes personal tragedy, as his son, Nate, died in 2020 after being struck by a speeding, distracted driver—an experience Isbell has cited as shaping his ongoing advocacy for safety and accountability.

Professionally, Isbell holds an associate’s degree in drafting and design from ITT Nashville, along with certifications in heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration from TCAT Murfreesboro and in project management from NCCER, all earned with honors. He currently teaches HVAC courses at night for the Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Tennessee.

In announcing his run, Isbell said his experience as a parent, educator, and community advocate would bring a new perspective to the school board. He said his priorities include student safety, respect, and ensuring schools have the resources needed to help students succeed.

If elected, Isbell would represent District 1 on the Rutherford County School Board.
